1. Who is Serving: |
---|
There is always a YELLOW frame around the name of the person who is serving. The red banded (first server) player’s name on each team, will appear in red letters. White letters are used to represent their partner. When the red banded player is serving, the BALL will have a red color, rather than a white color.
2. Who is Standing Where: |
---|
The names of players do NOT represent where the players should be standing. The position on court where the red banded player should be standing is indicated by the presence of a red bar. There will always be one red bar on each side of the net. These red bars will appear either at the baseline or the kitchen line. The red banded player's teammate will be standing in the adjacent quadrant, except when stacking. When stacking, sometimes a white bar will appear showing where the teammate should be standing. Additionally when stacking, white and red arrows might appear showing where the respective player should be standing before the serve and where they will move to after serving.
3. I Can’t Read the Score: |
---|
When you tap on ’10 Sec.’, the game score will flash in extra large print over the body of the court. Tap on '10 Sec.' again to stop the 10 second countdown clock. NOTE: Take notice of the color of the first two numbers. If it is red then the red banded player is serving. After the server number appears, there is a one second pause before the 10 second countdown starts. During this pause, the referee will pick up his/her head and look at the server and then announce the score. This allows, the referee to verify the server has not started his/her motion before the score has been completely called.
4. Start the 10 Second Clock: |
---|
Tap on ’10 Sec.’ to start the 10 second count down.
5. Record Score: |
---|
To have the App keep score, you only need to do one of two things for each rally:
1). Tap on the green kitchen to record a winning shot. OR
2). Tap on the blue service area to record an unforced error.
Pickleball is filled with winning shots and unforced errors. If a team hits a winning shot then tap that team’s green kitchen. After you tap the kitchen, a white diamond will appear for a few seconds. More later on the purpose of the diamond. Next, the App will display one of the following: ‘Point’, ‘Sideout’ or ‘Second Server’.
Here is how to record unforced errors. Tap on the blue service quadrant ( even or odd side ) where the unforced error was made. This indicates the team on that side of the net lost the rally. When the quadrant is tapped, the App displays a diamond. The diamond color indicates which player made the error. Red diamond for the red banded player and white for the teammate. If the App has picked the incorrect color, then tap on the diamond to toggle the color and therefore assigning the error to the correct player.
6. I Made a Mistake: |
---|
Tap on the ‘Undo’ button, and roll back to the last rally. It’s just that easy to make corrections!
7. Record a Player Timeout: |
---|
Timeout indicators are located under the Server and Receiver score and appear as yellow diagonal rectangles. The number of yellow diagonal rectangles reflect how many timeouts a team has remaining. Let’s say the serving team wishes to take a timeout. To do so, tap on one of the serving team’s remaining timeouts. A one minute countdown clock will automatically start. The countdown clock will appear on the side of the court of the team who requested the timeout. If you clicked on a timeout by mistake, then all you need to do is click on ‘Undo’. If both teams are ready to continue before the countdown expires, tap ‘End’ to stop the clock and resume the match.
8. Record a Fault: |
---|
To record a player’s fault, press and hold ( 1 second ) on the blue service quadrant where the fault was made. Again, if the diamond color is incorrect, tap on the diamond to toggle the color, so the fault can be assigned to the correct player.
9. Record a Warning: |
---|
To record a warning, tap on the player’s name who is to be issued a warning. A vertical orange bar will appear to the left of the team’s players’ names. This indicates the team has one warning. The location of the orange bar does NOT indicate which player was issued the warning.
10. Record a Technical Foul: |
---|
To record a technical foul, press and hold ( 1 second ) on the player’s name who is to be issued the foul. An orange oblong symbol will appear to the left of the team’s players’ names. This indicates the team has one technical foul. The location of the orange oblong symbol does NOT indicate which player was issued the technical foul.
11. Record a Medical Timeout: |
---|
To record a medical timeout, press and hold ( 6 seconds ) on the player’s name who is to be issued the medical timeout. A blue background will surround the player’s name who was granted a medical timeout. The medical count down clock starts. The medical clock counts down in minutes and NOT seconds. If this was pressed in error, tap ‘Undo’, and the player will NOT be charged with a medical timeout.
12. Record a Forfeit: |
---|
To record a forfeit, press and hold ( 6 seconds ) on the player’s name who wishes to forfeit the match. You will be prompted to confirm that team has chosen to forfeit the match.
